(Vallejo, Ca.,
February 1, 2007) Tommy Kreta, a 6-0 Senior
from Kodiak, Ak., has been awarded Athlete of the
Month for the month of January 2007. Tommy last
attended Southern Oregon Community College where he
transferred to Cal Maritime in the Fall of 2005. As
a second year starter for the Keelhaulers, Tommy has
been a consistent player and a major impact on the
Men’s Basketball program.
In the month of
January, Tommy has elevated his play in each of the
ten games the Keelhaulers have played in. He led
all scorers with 18.5 points per game, converting on
55% of all field goal attempts and 49% of shots
behind the arc. When fouled, Tommy is 79% from the
stripe. Tommy currently leads the team is scoring
with a 15.1 average.
Highlights for the
month of January include a home game against
Dominican University where he earned his first
double-double of the year, scoring 16 points and
grabbing 10 rebounds. He poured in a season high 25
against Pacific Union College, and five days later
scored 24 in an exciting but disappointing loss to
Cal State East Bay. His efforts have helped the
Keelhaulers to a 7-4 record in the Cal Pac
Conference.
Tommy is currently studying Marine Engineering
Technology at Cal Maritime and is on track to
graduate in 2009.
