Nakia Watson, a senior from Las Vegas, NV
has been named
Athlete of
the Month for the month of January, 2008. “Kia”,
as she is affectionately known, has helped
the Keelhaulers finish strong in the second
half of the season, as they prepare for the
Cal Pac Conference Tournament to be held the
19th through the 23rd
of February.
Kia’s consistent play has been a key to the
Keelhauler success all year; however, since
January Kia has averaged 16 points per game
with 6 rebounds. She leads the team in
steals and assists, averaging over 2 steals
and 4 assists per game, the highlight of the
season being the William Jessup game, where
she had 5 steals and 8 assists. She poured
in 22 points and pulled down 5 rebounds as
she helped the Keelhaulers to a 63-48
victory over the Warriors of William Jessup
University.
The California Pacific Conference recognized
Kia’s stellar play as well by naming her
Player of the Week the first week of
January.
Kia is studying Business Administration and
looks to graduate in 2009.
