(Vallejo,
CA, 3 October 2007) Billy Dick has been
awarded Athlete of the Month for September
2007 for his outstanding efforts on the
soccer field for the California Maritime
Academy. Billy, a native from San Diego,
graduated from Point Loma High School in
2003. While at Point Loma High, Billy
excelled in football, soccer, and
volleyball.
As
a senior at Cal Maritime, Billy has been a
four year starter on the soccer team where
he anchors the defense as the team’s goalie
and captain.
Currently, Billy
leads the Cal Pac Conference in saves per
game.
Defensively, Billy has helped
fortify a strong Keelhauler defense. Solid
defensive efforts helped the Keelhaulers
secure their first win of the season against
Cal Pac rival Bethany University.

In CMA's first game, Billy
and the Keelhauler defense held the
opponent, Pacific Union College, to only one
goal and Billy recorded seven saves.
Cal Maritime then faced Bethany University.
Billy had an amazing game, shutting out
Bethany University in the second game of the
season and had twelve saves. He added
another nine saves in a losing effort to
Simpson University, bringing his average to
9.3 saves per game, which leads the Cal Pac
Conference.
Being a four year student
athlete at Cal Maritime, Billy has elevated
not only his level of play, but also that of
those around him. The Keelhaulers look to
build on the commendable leadership
portrayed by Billy in the box.
Billy is currently studying
marine transportation with a minor in
engineering here at Cal Maritime. Billy is
expecting to graduate in the Spring of 2008.
