Vallejo, CA -- The
California Maritime Academy stayed pace
with the against 2nd place opponent
William Jessup University as the
Keelhaulers push the basketball to a
86-74 victory.
Cal Maritime (14-10,
9-5 in the Cal Pac) struggled out of the
gate down 10-2 early, but forced 17 of
the 29 William Jessup turnovers in the
1st half to go with a 39-38 halftime
lead. The second half the
Keelhaulers highest lead was 10, but
could not pull away until a
controversial intentional and technical
foul was called with 1:15 to go in the
game. A well rounded attack was
the key as CMA shot 47% on the night and
four players in double digits. Tom
Kreta 20, Cody Gatton with 19, Praise
Odo-Boms with 16, and Mikey Ferguson
ended up with 14. DJ Wyatt's 5
assists and tenacious defense assisted
in the victory. Joseph Mitchell
had 22 points and 16 rebounds to lead
William Jessup.
"I thought our bench gave
great minutes tonight to allow our
players to run the floor and stay fresh"
Head Coach Tim Harrison said after the
game. "This was one of our best efforts
of the year."
Next on the schedule is a road trip to
Anguin, Ca, to play Pacific Union
with a tip-off on Thursday at
