This year's version of the
Cal Maritime Keelhaulers will feature seven new faces,
all of whom are expected to make major contributions to
the Keelhaulers' fortunes.
Cody Gatton, a 6-5 post,
will enter Maritime as a junior, having played two
seasons at San Diego CC, including being named
all-conference as a sophomore. Gatton averaged 12.5
points and 7.2 rebounds his final season at SDCC. Will
Williams, a 6-1 sophomore guard from Spring Valley, CA,
played a year at Imperial Valley Junior College in
Imperial, CA, for head coach Tyson Aye. Will is an
outstanding ball -handler and floor leader. Also
expected to contribute at the guard spot is 6-0 junior
Mikey Ferguson from Chabot College in Hayward. Mikey was
one of the Gladiators' top defenders and three-point
shooters. Steve Barrera is a 6-5 forward out of Manteca,
who played a year at Humboldt State University (Arcata,
CA) and his sophomore year at the College of Alameda.
Steve is a tough rebounder and an excellent shooter for
his size.
Simon Heller, who most
recently played at Porterville College, J.D. Stiles, a
freshman from Murrietta Valley High School, where he averaged 10.5 points and 9.7 rebounds, and Greg
Rogers (Mendocino College) are all expected to compete
for time on the Maritime floor this upcoming season.
