California Maritime
Academy released its 2006-2007 schedule,
featuring match-ups with Division I
Cal-State Fullerton, three tournaments,
including the Maritime Cup in Castine,
ME, as well as the traditionally tough
California Pacific Conference.
The Keelhaulers will
open play this year on November 3
against San Diego Christian in the first
round of the Holy Names Tip-Off Classic.
Following a second-round match-up
against Biola University, the
Keelhaulers will travel to Fullerton on
November 10 to
take on the Titans. Fullerton comes off
an 18-win season under second-year coach
Bob Burton.
Prior to the
Thanksgiving Break, Maritime travels to
Maine for the inaugural version of the
Maritime Cup, where three of the
nation's maritime academies and the
Coast Guard Academy will participate in
a classic-style format.
"Every year I've
always put together a tough
non-conference schedule in order to be
competitive in the Cal Pac, and this
year is no different.," said Head Coach
Tim Harrison. "Tough challenges in the
beginning prepare you for championship
runs at the end of the season."
After a winless
campaign in 2004-05, the Keelhaulers had
one of the biggest turnarounds in the
nation, winning 14 games in Harrison's
second year at the helm.
