The
2008-2009 basketball season continues to
look promising for the California
Maritime Academy
Keelhaulers as the program adds Alex Raj
to its incoming recruiting class. Raj
recently finished his second year
at Cuesta College playing for coach
Rusty Blair.
"We are
very excited about Alex's decision to
join our program! He gives us a
hard nosed, physical presence at the post spot.
In addition, his athleticism will be an
excellent asset in finishing around the
rim. While his physical skills are very
good, his leadership and toughness
are the two biggest qualities that he
brings to the table and allow him the
opportunity to make an important and
immediate impact on this year's team,"
commented Head Coach Bryan Rooney.
Raj is also
an excellent student as he carries a 3.0
grade point average. He plans to
major in Business
Administration in the Fall. When
asked about his decision to be a
Keelhauler, Raj was filled
with enthusiasm, "I am very excited
about coming to Maritime. I firmly
believe in the direction of the
program in the quest to win a
championship. I am pumped to be a Keelhauler!"
"With this
year's recruiting class, we wanted to
bring in quality student-athletes that
were talented in the classroom and on the court.
Alex has excelled in both areas and I am
confident that he will continue to do so
here. He is a great addition to
our program," Rooney said.
The
2008-2009 season begins November 1st as
Maritime travels to play the Sunbirds of
Fresno
Pacific University.
