In the
first exhibition contest of the season,
the California Maritime Academy
Keelhaulers played hard right to the
final buzzer. Their opponent, UC
Davis, shot the ball extremely well as
evidenced by the fact that the Aggies
shot 62% from the field and 47% from
three point range. Maritime was
not without some bright spots as Cody
Gatton lead the team with twelve points
and the Keelhaulers were able to grab
sixteen offensive rebounds on the night.
Coach Rooney expressed optimism
regarding the team's development, "The
best thing about tonight ws that our
players never stopped battling. We
certainly have some key elements which
we need to continue to improve.
However, we are confident we will reach
our goals with continued effort and
attention to execution."
The team
opens up the regular non-conference
schedule on Saturday night against
Northwest University. Tip off time
is scheduled for 7:30pm immediately
following the women's game. Go
