Tour Game in Wales - Cal
Maritime 10 - Llandaff North 32
The first official tour game of Cal Maritime Rugby took
place in Cardiff, the
capital city of Wales at the Llandaff North Rugby
Football Club. After the 10 hour
flight to London, the team played a slow opening 20
minutes before picking up
the pace. While the competition was good at scrums,
rucks and lineouts the
welsh team were clearly more dangerous in broken play
with more overall
team speed. The after match function in the clubhouse
was certainly novel for
the Cal Maritime team but ended with both teams heading
into Cardiff city
center together.
*MVP - Adrian Kearns
The following day Cal Maritime watched Wales beat
Ireland to win its first
Grand Slam since 1978. The atmosphere in the Millennium
Stadium was
electric and the seats kindly given to Cal Maritime by
the Welsh Rugby Union
were fantastic. A great day to be in one of rugby's
great citadels in one of
Europe's great city's, in what Joe Fulford can only
describe as "Probably the
best country in the world". Till the next tour........
