– In
horrendous
weather
conditions,
Santa
Rosa
JC
scored
three
tries
to
defeat
Cal
Maritime
20-3.
Playing
in
wind
and
rain
for
the
entire
game,
Santa
Rosa
took
the
opportunities
to
score
in a
sloppy
but
intense
game.
Cal
Maritime
opened
the
scoring
with
a
Chris
Rathbun
penalty
and
while
the
Keelhaulers
dominated
the
scrums,
both
teams
struggled
to
keep
possession
creating
a
frantic
game.
Santa
Rosa
scored
the
only
try
of
the
first
half
to
lead
5-3
at
half
time.
Immediately
after
the
break,
Santa
Rosa
scored
again
to
extend
their
lead.
Both
teams
valiantly
tried
to
attack
in
the
rain
before
Santa
Rosa
scored
in
the
final
movement
of
the
game
to
seal
the
victory.
“I’m
proud
of
the
team.
I
thought
we
battled
well
and
kept
trying
until
the
end.
The
conditions
were
terrible
and
didn’t
suit
how
we
like
to
play”,
said
Coach
Edward
Roberts.
“We
tried
many
tactics
but
we
couldn’t
control
the
ball
for
long
enough
to
get
over
the
white
line.”
