Women’s Water polo Welcomes New Skipper
Michelle Houseman!

The California Maritime Academy Department of Athletics welcomes new women’s water polo coach Michelle Houseman to the coaching staff. Michelle comes to us from Benicia California. She brings her strong sense of competition to Cal Maritime having been a college swimmer, diver and water polo player. Last year she worked with the Keelhaulers as an assistant to Tim Torchiana. Now as head coach she has great expectations for the future of women’s water polo and women’s sports in general.
Michelle’s has a very strong background in physical education and sport. She graduated from Sonoma State University with a BS in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Pre-Physical Therapy. She intends on pursuing a graduate degree in physical therapy.
According to Athletic Director Marv Christopher ‘Michelle brings a sense of enthusiasm to the now experienced group of young ladies’. The team’s excellent mix of freshmen and upperclassmen should result in a very competitive squad. Coach Houseman says she looks forward to this season and building a formidable program for the future.
