Maritime’s
Stacey Sorenson was
awarded the Cal Pac Player of
the Week
for her excellent play against
Pacific Union College and Cal
State East Bay. Sorenson, the
team Captain, helped lead the
team to victory in the Pacific
Union contest with 17, hitting 2
of 3 from the three point line.
Sorenson was busy in the paint
as well, pulling down 6
rebounds. She added 6 assists
and 6 steals to help Cal
Maritime to a comfortable 52-42
victory over the Pioneers.
Sorenson continued to stay hot
against Cal State East Bay. She
led Cal Maritime in scoring,
this time with 19, hitting 2 of
3 from long range. She pulled
down 10 rebounds, passed for 5
assists, and stole 3 balls.
“Stacey’s
play was consistent with the
effort she’s given all year
long, she is a great team leader
both on and off the court”,
commented Head Coach Dave
Covell.
Sorenson
has been the starting point
guard for the past two years,
and helped lead the Keelhaulers
to a 5-11 record. The 5'7"
guard from Torrance, Ca. is
currently a junior at Cal
Maritime, where she is studying
Marine Transportation.
