The Cal
Maritime Women’s Basketball team played two
games last weekend in Pasadena Ca. By
halftime of their first game, the ladies
jumped to a 34-20 lead over the home team
Cal Tech, and although the second half was a
little less productive, the team’s solid
defense allowed the Keelhaulers to solidify
a 42-36 victory. Three players finished the
game in double figures.
Katie
Maddox scored 13 points,
Clarisse Osegueda had 13 points, and
Laneesh Salahuddin poured in 11 points.
The Lady Keelhaulers dominated the boards
and three players ended the game in double
digits.
Stacey Sorenson had 13,
Jennifer Wadsworth had 12, and
Salahuddin finished with 13.
In the second game in as many days the
ladies came out to a sluggish start and
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology jumped
out to a big lead in the first half.
Although Cal Maritime played well in the
second half, it was too much of a deficit to
overcome. The Keelhaulers were lead by
Katie Maddox with 14 points and Stacey
Sorenson with 12. Laneesh had another solid
effort in the post scoring 9 points and
grabbing 7 rebounds. Both Maddox and
Salahuddin received All-tournament honors.
The victory over
Cal Tech marked the first victory of the
season for the Lady Keelhaulers.
