The Keelhaulers returned to action on Friday night
at Mayo Hall after a tough 0 and 3 stint in the Las
Vegas Shootout.
The Keelhaulers started slow for the first 5 minutes
of the game with Cal Tech crashing the O-boards and
getting up 6-2 in the opening minutes. After a
quick 30 second timeout the Keelhaulers starting to
up the defensive pressure and gain and eventually
extend the lead to a 40 to 13 lead at the half
behind the dead eye shooting of Keniya Thurman, 17
first half points finishing with 20. Thurman
hit on 6 of 8 from behind the arch. Thurman
was joined in double figures by Lauren Westbrook's
11 and Ariel Gatton and Taylor Himmelspach each
chipping in 10 points. Himmelspach picked up
her first double-double of the season dishing out 13
assists to go with her point total.
Keelhaulers finished the game on top with a score of
67-35.
Cal Maritime returns to action for conference play
on January 8th versus Holy Names University at 5:30
in Oakland California.
