(Vallejo, Ca., 9 June 2008) Cal Maritime
signs seven Junior College transfer students
whom will make an immediate impact on the
program. Cherish Bustos, Shoshanah Finley,
Angela Goodall, Taylor Himmelspach, Kelli
Payne, Trista Rossi and Veronica Rand have
all sign letters of intent to play for Cal
Maritime Academy next season.
Cherish Bustos lead Napa Valley College to a
7-7 record in conference. Bustos is a solid
point guard with great vision. She lead the
Storm with 5.6 assists and 2.6 steals per
game.
Shoshanah Finley comes to Cal Maritime after
finishing up her Junior College career at
Chabot College in Hayward, CA. Finley is a
sharp shooter with plenty of range as she
connected on 30% of her 3's her sophomore
season at Chabot.
Angela Goodall also comes to Cal Maritime
after playing at Chabot with Finley. Angela
will bring athleticism and size to the
paint. At Chabot, Goodall averaged 11.2
rebounds add 9.1 points per game while
shooting 40% from the field.
Taylor Himmelspach transfers to Cal Maritime
after playing 2 years at Butte College in
Oroville, CA. Himmelspach help lead Butte
to a 23 win season and a birth in the J.C.
post season tournament. Taylor will bring
her 6 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game into
Cal Maritime. Taylor also has the ability
to hit the outside shot, shooting 41.5% from
behind the arc.
Kelli Payne, also a transfer from Butte
College, was instrumental in helping
Roadrunners to a Golden Valley Conference
Co-Championship. Kelli lead the team in
scoring throwing in 16.8 per game while also
dishing out 5.3 assists. Payne is a solid
scorer that can shoot the 3 or penetrate and
get to the rim.
Trista Rossi will bring her solid play from
American River College in Sacramento, CA.
Trista averaged 11 points and grabbed 7.7
rebounds from the guard position.
Veronica Rand will be transferring from
Southwestern Oregon community College in
Coos Bay OR. Veronica led the Lakers with 7
rebounds per game and shot very well from
behind the arch.
Coach Covell is extremely excited about all
of the incoming players. “All seven players
come from very solid Junior College programs
and I look for all of them to be very solid
contributors right away.”
