With the 2006-2007
season approaching fast the Keelhaulers look forward to
the season the addition of seven new players that will
all play key roles this season.
Nakia Watson, a
guard from Las Vegas played two seasons at Porterville
College where in her freshman year she helped lead them
to one of the top seeds in post season play. In
her sophomore year she led her team in both scoring (16)
and assists (3.0). Nakia looks to be a great combo
guard with her scoring and ability to find the open
player.
Jessica Dillman, out of Apple Valley Ca., another Junior College
transfer played at Victor Valley College in Victorville. Jess will bring solid post
moves, rebounding and toughness to the court this year.
Keniya Thurman
comes to us from Sacramento. At Highlands High
School Keniya was able to shoot from the arch at a 35%
rate. She will be asked to continue her shooting
at Cal Maritime.
Alyssa Reyes, out of West
Sacramento, lead her team at River City High School in
Assists and Steals. Alyssa looks to step into the
role of point guard for the Keelhaulers and be the floor
general.
Lauren Westbrook
and
Jessica Cannon both
come to Cal Maritime from Mesa Verde High School in
Citrus Heights. They both bring scoring, defense
and a solid work ethic to the team. They both are
going to help with the scoring load this year.
Angela Jackson out of Vallejo High School helped lead
Vallejo High School to the NorCal playoffs and a win at
Arco Arena in Sacramento. Angela looks to help the
Keelhaulers out with her ability to shoot the midrange
and crash the boards.
Coach Covell is
very excited about the upcoming season with this
incoming class as well as the players that he has returning.
