Keelhaulers Row Well in Stockton Regatta
Sunday, October 19, 2008 - The Cal Maritime
crew team had a good showing this weekend,
picking up three first-place finishes and
one second-place finish at the inaugural
Head of the Pacific Regatta in Stockton.
The regatta was held in near-perfect
conditions, with a slight tailwind to
encourage boats down the course.
The Keelhaulers competed against host
University of the Pacific in four races. In
the men’s novice eight, Cal Maritime won in
a time of twenty minutes and thirty
seconds. The men’s novice four, racing two
hours later, finished first in 23:06. The
men’s varsity four finished first in their
race in a time of 19:42. In the women’s
varsity four, Cal Maritime finished second
in a time of 21:00, losing by one second.
At the end of the regatta, Cal Maritime and
UOP raced a combined mixed eight, a strong
symbol of camaraderie in the sport. Our
thanks go out to UOP in organizing this
regatta.
The Keelhaulers will compete next on October
25th at the Head of the American
in Sacramento and on October 26th
at the Head of the Estuary in Oakland.
