2008-2009
Cal Maritime hosted it's
annual Cal-Pac
tournament on Thursday, the 23rd of
Feb at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Club.
Six teams competed on the four star
golf course. The Cal Pac teams
that competed were Holy
Names University, Bethany
University, Cal State East Bay,
Dominican University, Menlo
College, and Cal Maritime. The
golfers all hit from the blue tees giving the
course a total yardage of 6782.
The course rating is 73.8, and
has a slope of 142. With 5
golfers from each team
competing, the top 4 scores
were used to determine the team score.
Holy Names University came away
as the top team of the day with
a team score of 309. Cal
State East came in a close
second with a combined total of
312. Cal Maritime finished
with a combined finish of 362.
Mike Pecsok led the Keelhaulers
with a 79. The conditions were near perfect
as the wind stayed relatively
calm, and the sun shined.
The field of golfers enjoyed a
very challenging pin placement,
making their approach shots
vital to overall scoring.
The event was highlighted with a
hole-in-one by Holy Names golfer
Charles Chae on hole number 3, a
135 yard par 3.
The Cal Maritime tournament
was
the first for the Keelhaulers
since the winter recess. The next scheduled tournament
for the men will be at the Menlo
College Tournament on March
27th.
