Kris Gingrich Joins the Keelhaulers

May 7th, 2009

Vallejo, Calif.---Cal Maritime head men’s basketball coach Bryan Rooney has announced the commitment of De Anza College forward Kris Gingrich.  Kris recently finished a solid career at De Anza where he played for head coach Jason Damjanovic.

Gingrich, a 6’5” forward, led his team with a 15.3 points per game average during conference play to go along with 5.6 rebounds per game.  A very efficient offensive player, Kris shot over 50% from the field and a stellar 84% from the free throw line.  For his efforts, he was named to the All Conference team in the tough Coast Conference.

“We are very excited that Kris is coming aboard!  He has shown the ability to be a productive scorer at De Anza and I believe that he is very motivated to make the most out of his two years with us,” commented Coach Rooney.

A solid student in the classroom, Kris will be a student in Cal Maritime’s nationally recognized Mechanical Engineering program when he starts school in the Fall.

Cal Maritime finished the 2008-09 season with a school record 17 wins including a 9-7 record in the California Pacific Conference. The Keelhaulers earned a bid to the Cal Pac Conference Championships and advanced in the playoffs as far as any Cal Maritime team ever has. The 2009-2010 seasons begins when the Keelhaulers travel to participate in the Cal Baptist Lancer Classic.
