Vallejo,
Calif.---Cal Maritime head men’s
basketball coach Bryan Rooney has
announced the commitment of Arlington
High School star guard Cole Carpenter.
Cole recently finished an outstanding
career at Arlington where he played for
head coach Nick Brown.
“Cole is the
type of student-athlete we strive to
bring into the program. He is a very
talented guard who has excellent
toughness and he has also done an
outstanding job in the classroom. He is
going to make a definite impact during
his career,” commented Head Coach Bryan
Rooney.
Cole was
named to the All League team both his
junior and senior year and was among his
team’s leaders in points and assists.
Carpenter was the captain of an
Arlington that advanced in the
Washington High School Basketball
playoffs. He will major in Marine
Transportation.
“We are very
excited that Cole is joining the
Keelhauler basketball family. He has a
great opportunity to help us continue to
build upon the success of the past two
years,” concluded Coach Rooney.
Cal Maritime
finished the 2008-09 season with a
school record 17 wins including a 9-7
record in the California Pacific
Conference. The Keelhaulers earned a bid
to the Cal Pac Conference Championships
and advanced in the playoffs as far as
any Cal Maritime team ever has. The
2009-2010 seasons begins when the
Keelhaulers travel to participate in the
Cal Baptist Lancer Classic.
