Cal Maritime Back on Course Past San Jose State
(San Jose, CA - March 6, 2010) - Rebounding from a loss last week, Cal Maritime scored eight tries to defeat an athletic San Jose State 50-15 Saturday.
Center Paul Stetson and hooker Colby Grobschmit scored two tries apiece in a much improved performance.
Stetson opened the scoring followed by tries from Kevin Raff, Grant Ginilo, Grobschmit and Will Fitzpatrick. Rufus Walker added three conversions to make the halftime score 31-0
Stetson scored his second from a well worked strike move to open the scoring in the second half. Grobschmit scored next before Matt Greely showed excellent footwork to beat two defenders before crashing over the line. Walker and Kevin Raff added the conversions.
"We improved from the disappointment of last week's performance," said coach Edward Roberts. "We controlled the game much better."
The win takes Cal Maritime to 5-1 in the league.
Next the Keelhaulers host Humboldt State on March 13.
